The Arthritis Society was established in 1948 when arthritis was a disease that doomed people to chronic pain and disfigurement. Since then, researchers have learned much more about the causes and effects of arthritis, and have developed a variety of joint supporting devices, drugs, and treatments that can slow down the progression of the disease and make living and work more enjoyable.
