Innovation...innovation...innovation... It is a word frequently spoken. There is corporate innovation, continuous innovation, global innovation, disruptive innovation, social innovation, and more. There is an endless stream of words describing the various approaches to innovation that firms take to strategically develop sustainable growth and competitiveness through marketplace leadership. Canadian firms always seems to make it to the top of the list of competitive companies but often struggle to make it onto the lists of most innovative ones. Innovation influences the ability of companies to increase labor productivity, produce transformative products and services, and generate a continuous flow of new ideas. Without innovation-based business strategies, companies can compete as market followers but not leaders.
