Katie Bessette, Country Human Resources Manager for ABB Canada, believes that a culture of diversity & inclusion is critical to ABB’s success and is an ingredient that makes the organization stronger. Enabling her team to blaze new trails, she oversaw the development and optimization of several policies designed to retain and attract new talent groups, including the Military Reservist, Parental Leave and Compassionate Care policies.
She also led the strengthening of ABB’s allyship with the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month, empowering her team to break new ground through pioneering initiatives, and has supported efforts to improve ABB’s allyship within the Indigenous Community. Under her leadership, a Canadian Diversity & Inclusion team was put in place to develop a strategy and approach that focuses on workplace inclusiveness. This team, led by Canada’s Head of Talent and Recruitment, supports managers and employees with training, coaching, and ongoing opportunities to participate in activities that promote a sense of belonging and support their development.
