As the Director of Ethics & Equity at Ontario Power Generation, Michelle Folliott is working to advance ED&I across the province. Under Michelle’s leadership, the company established its Ethics & Equity Office to drive culture change, launched OPG’s first ED&I 10-year Strategy to become a global ED&I leader by 2030 and was named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2023.
In order to achieve OPG’s promise to accelerate equity, celebrate diversity and foster a culture of inclusion, Michelle and her team are tracking almost 300 ED&I-based actions and initiatives for implementation over the next seven years. These include community-based work, such as OPG’s founding partnership with the BlackNorth Connect Program and initiatives to increase representation of historically-marginalized groups in the energy industry through partnerships with post-secondary institutions. Internally, Michelle is working to push boundaries on ED&I-related data use and performance incentives to identify and target bottlenecks in the hiring, advancement and success of racialized and Indigenous employees, employees with disabilities and women at all levels of the organization.
Michelle is thrilled to work alongside so many dedicated professionals and advocates, including an executive team and board of directors that provide unfailing support for ED&I work.
