As the Executive Sponsor of the Women at EDC Employee Resource Group, Miguel Simard, Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Export Development Canada (EDC), is the first male Executive Sponsor. The successful ERG identified the need for better data analytics and increased data visibility, leading to the implementation of two online data dashboards. Miguel is also the Executive Sponsor of the Diversity Representation Working Group, which focuses on increasing diversity representation at the leadership level for visible minorities. He advocated for a Diversity Hiring Policy leading to targeted job postings with inclusive language.
EDC has adapted its culture to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse workforce and customer base. Corporate values were updated to add the Inclusion Value and the Caring Value. Miguel is proud of EDC’s ESG framework, which includes a commitment to making positive impacts in communities, locally and globally. Causes supported that ERG members care about include the Youth Education and Scholarship Program, Pride at Work Canada, and Indigenous Works. EDC has also recently launched the Global Corporate Partnership DEI Initiative, which connects international companies within the Global Corporate Partnership portfolio.
