Rachel Gottlieb Advances BMO Financial Group DEI Strategy


Rachel Gottlieb is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Technology & Operations and Corporate Areas at BMO Financial Group. She is instrumental in advancing the enterprise’s “Zero Barriers to Inclusion” strategy, using team leader-led advocacy and mobilization of employees through the DEI Councils and Employee Resource Groups. The teams drive impact through focused initiatives, like the T&O Diverse Mentoring Connections Program, and by developing externally facing partnerships that support multiple diverse communities. Rachel also serves as Co-Executive Sponsor for the People & Culture DEI Council, which has redesigned the DEI strategy and advanced initiatives like the Indigenous Talent and Career Forum.

To support the enterprise strategy, Rachel employs DEI best practices that encourage employees to participate in ERGs and Councils. She leverages external partnerships like the 2SLGBTQ+ nonprofit community of tech professionals and The Mom Project. Rachel is a vocal advocate for DEI and is committed to creating a psychologically safe space for everyone. As a positive, empathetic role model, her source of strength is her lived experience as a woman in the 2SLGBTQ+ and Jewish communities.
