Shereen Samuels: Embracing a new era of inclusion in law


As Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at Gowling WLG, Shereen Samuels plays a pivotal role in realizing the global law firm’s vision of a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture, one in which everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive personally and professionally.

In pursuit of this goal, she works collaboratively across multiple departments to advance a range of innovative and data-driven initiatives. Among these initiatives is the DEI Academy, a program designed to provide practical, competency-based training in support of equity and inclusion across the firm. Shereen also spearheaded the development of the firm’s Momentum Committees, a volunteer-led initiative across Gowling WLG’s seven offices focused on building skills for engaging in meaningful DEI conversations.

Under Shereen’s stewardship, Gowling WLG achieved Mansfield Rule Certification Plus status for the first time this past September, a testament to the firm’s ongoing commitment to establishing a diverse talent pipeline for leadership roles.
