Over $1 million available for community support through AlectraCARES portal launch

Alectra has announced the opening of its AlectraCARES Community Support Program portal for 2025 funding applications. Alectra donates more than $1 million every year to support charitable, non-profit and not-for-profit organizations to help build sustainable communities across its service territory. Last year, 150 grants were awarded to organizations addressing immediate needs within the community and for causes enhancing the quality of life across our service territory.

“At Alectra, sustainability means more than environmental responsibility; it’s about creating meaningful and measurable social, environmental, and economic benefits, now and for the future,” said Brian Bentz, President and Chief Executive Officer, Alectra. “Our AlectraCARES program guides us in our mission to become a more sustainable company by building upon our legacy of community well-being and supporting the vital work of local charitable organizations. We are dedicated to delivering value to our customers and making a positive impact in our communities.”

If you are involved with a deserving charitable organization that serves communities in Alectra’s service territory, we encourage you to share our 2025 application link: https://alectracares.smapply.io. The application deadline for funding is Friday, September 13, 2024.

Guided by feedback from our customers and what social issues matter most to them, Alectra's 2025 Community Support Program will focus on building sustainability in its communities by directing funding towards the following areas:

  • Food security and housing security
  • Mental health and access to health care
  • Indigenous support and reconciliation efforts
  • Vulnerable groups (seniors, children/youth, low-income households)
  • Environmental conservation and animal welfare
  • Scholarships, education and employment
  • Celebrating cultural diversity and equal opportunities for equity groups (visible minorities, 2SLGBTQI+, newcomers, persons with disabilities, women)
  • Alectra may also support events and programs that benefit its customers and contribute to building sustainable communities, even if they do not fall under the above focus areas. For more information on the AlectraCARES Community Support Program, please visit: www.alectra.com/community-support.
